FarmWork

Oldenburg Farm LLC is a private breeding and training facility located in Mequon Wisconsin.

The facility was designed to pay homage to the traditional barn structures of South Eastern Wisconsin as well as a strong Prairie theme based on the work of Wisconsin native, Frank Lloyd Wright.

The building includes a 80' X 200' indoor riding arena, cherry clad viewing area, 35' octagonal private office and entry lobby, locker room, tack room, 18 convertible custom stalls and matching hay barn.

The matching hay barn has capacity for a full winter season of bales, and ample equipment space. The incorporated shop and office allow for maintenance personnel dedicated space.

The grande entry enforces the strong Prairie design found throughout the facility. The 4'X 10' functional cupolas are internally lit with induction lamping for 100,000 hour service.

The entrance lobby is a 35" octagon, paying homage to the octagon barns prevalent in SE Wisconsin around the turn of the century. The private office and locker room echo its shape on the opposite end of the viewing area. It is populated with furniture and wainscoting reclaimed from the original 1800s barns.

While under the employ of Visa Lighting, I was afforded the opportunity to be the architect, lighting & interior designer and onsite construction manager for this project. The Farm's architectural presence, logo, custom furnishings design, marketing initiatives and layout of every fence line on the 200+ acre property were also components of my responsibility. It was a defining role and allowed me to develop a far greater understanding of every aspect of architecture, construction, lighting and project management. Maintaining my position as Director of Design for Visa Lighting, there were also 6 major new product introductions during the 2 year design and building process.
